UP TO 250 new manufacturing jobs will be coming to Droitwich in the new year, thanks to a company expansion.

Magna Exterior and Interiors, which bespokes dashboards for Jaguar cars and is the third largest automotive components maker in the world, will be taking up a building on the Berry Hill Industrial Estate.

The company currently employs about 1,000 staff at two sites in Redditch and some of those will assist in getting the new site up and running.

The new operation is expected to get underway in February and Magna will now be submitting a planning application to change the

use of the 230,000sq ft Big Berry large warehouse unit from distribution to general manufacturing.

Magna’s human resources manager Hilary Nunn told The Standard: “Here at the Redditch division we are enjoying long term business growth, as a result of which we are expanding into an additional plant based at Droitwich.

“This planned expansion will create several job opportunities for people in the local area including roles from operator to management levels across all related disciplines.”

Among the positions available will be assembly associates, maintenance technicians and leather wrap associates – anyone wanting to find out more about the roles or apply for them can write to Human Resources, Magna Exterior and Interiors, North Moons Moat, Merse Road, Redditch. B98 9HL.

The local authority will be helping Manga with its recruitment and is planning a programme of activities with JobCentre Plus.

The news has been welcomed by Droitwich Town Council leader, Ken Jennings, who said it would bring some Christmas cheer and a prosperous new year for the town.

“We are delighted to see such a large empty unit on Berry Hill let for such a prestigious manufacturing project and we look forward to welcoming Magna Interiors to our town.”

The Conservative’s Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Mid Worcestershire, Nigel Huddleston, said: “New manufacturing investments are vital if Britain is to trade its way in the world and this news is yet more proof the economy is going in the right direction under this Government.

“Droitwich Spa will now have a great opportunity to benefit from the Jaguar Land Rover success story.”
