Life-saving charity, Droitwich AED, has installed its latest defibrillator in the town offering respite for the elderly population in the area.
It has been installed on Stalls Farm Road outside medical scooter store, MK Mobility UK, in a bid to offer life-saving equipment to an area identified by Droitwich Town Councillor, Dave Davidson, as having an ageing population.
After collaboration between Droitwich AED (automated external defibrillator) founder, Peter Richards, the landlord of the property, Platform Housing Group, and shop owner, Andy Rich, the defibrillator will be fully funded.
Platform Housing Group’s community engagement officer agreed to fund the equipment and finance its ongoing maintenance, while shop owner Andy will cover ongoing electricity costs.
The 182nd defibrillator installed by Droitwich AED was unveiled by Droitwich Spa mayor, Coun Kate Fellows on Tuesday, April 9.
Mayor, Coun Fellows thanked everyone involved for their efforts and contributions in helping fund the equipment.
She added: “Kate Fellows – Mayor – “I was delighted to unveil another potential life saver. I have seen several installed in our town during my term of office and I thank Peter Richards and the charity he founded for all that has been achieved.
“It is a pleasure to have seen all these people cooperating with each other to achieve such an important goal”
Peter Richards, a former volunteer for St Johns Ambulance, founded Droitwich AED in 2017 after retirement. Since, the charity has installed a total of 181 units, with 65 in Droitwich and many others in town and villages throughout Worcestershire.
MK Mobility was founded by Andy’s parents in the 1990’s. Alongside the mobility scooter store, Andy also runs a youth trials riding club and an electric motorbike business.
