Community pop-up shop to help cost of living crisis was a huge success

AROUND £100 was raised at the Platform Community Housing pop-up shop at the Westlands Community Hall on Monday, October 17.

The shop aimed to help Droitwich residents with the cost of living by selling all items ranging from clothes, toys, and books at 50p.

All proceeds from the shop will then be given back to the community, with part of the money already allocated to the Community Christmas Fair in November.

In total, around 500 items were sold, which were all donated by Platform Housing Staff.

Any leftover items were then donated to the New Hope charity shop.

The day ran alongside the Community Fridge, and a platform advisor was present offering advice to help people with rising costs.

Chris Colley, Organiser, said it was eye-opening seeing the number of people needing help because of the cost of living rising.

“From what we saw, people were queuing to use the Community Fridge and struggling to feed themselves.

“So Platform wants to help where we can and help our customers.”
