Could you offer a home to a Romanian street dog?

A DROITWICH dog charity is seeking kind-hearted animal lovers to a Romanian street dog a fur-ever home.

Jordan Bear Charity, which provides rescue, rehabilitation and re-homing for abandoned and abused Greyhounds and Lurchers, has teamed up with Sadie’s Stray Dog Rescue to bring in five street dogs from Romania.

The ‘E’ group includes Esme and Ena, two Shetland Collie Crosses, Ethan, a medium-sized cross-breed, Emrys, a small cross breed Papillon type and Ewan, thought to be a Border terrier cross.

Seven-year-old Esme is a friendly natured little girl who would make an ideal companion for an older person.

She does not require great amounts of exercise and is very loving once her shyness has passed.

Good with other dogs, Ena is about two years old and is neutered and microchipped.

She was found dumped with other dogs in Romania and is arriving to the UK very soon.

One-year-old Ethan was taken to a vet in Romania after having been hit by a car. He is now blind in one eye and carries his head at a slight tilt.

The ‘super-affectionate’ dog is otherwise fit and well.

Emrys is two years old and described as ‘a lovely little lad, small, very friendly and attentive’.

Ten-year-old Ewan is a happy dog who needs a quiet home and is suited to an older person or couple.

He has had a broken left rear tibia which was fixed by the vet in Romania. He will need to see the vet again to ensure the break is healing properly before being homed.

The charity is also seeking donations of dog beds, quilts, blankets and electric blankets as the Romanian winters are severe and the shelters have limited resources.

Susan Boone, from the Jordan Bear Charity, said heating in the dogs’ huts was an unknown luxury and electric blankets would go a long way to ensuring the sick, weak, older dogs and puppies do not just curl up into a ball and die in the cold.

Usual vetting procedures, home checks and homing policy will apply to all the dogs.
