‘IT’S DISAPPOINTING’ – those were the words of Droitwich Town Council after one of the underpass murals was graffitied on.
Abusive words were scrawled on the piece in the walkway running between Westlands and the King George Playing Fields.
The artworks were created at the end of last year in collaboration with schoolchildren to make the previously intimidating underpasses brighter and more welcoming.
Arrangements are being made to have the graffiti removed.
The town council said it, Wychavon District, which also worked on the art project, and Worcestershire County, responsible for the underpass, were also disappointed.
Residents have contacted the Standard about general graffiti across Droitwich, which they say has increased in recent weeks and months.
Anyone with information on those responsible should call police on 101.
