Covid-19: Vaccine centres in Worcestershire to rearrange appointments if supply is low

Droitwich Editorial 7th Apr, 2021   0

LOCAL health bosses have moved to reassure residents over concerns of a vaccine shortage in Worcestershire.

We contacted NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire CCG after a number of people told this paper that their Covid-19 vaccine appointments had been cancelled.

One woman said: “Second vaccine appointments are being cancelled in Worcestershire because there is a shortage of Pfizer.

“I am aware of this after visiting the Artrix in Bromsgrove. And a relative of mine had their appointment cancelled for this weekend but has not been issued a new appointment.”

The CCG told the Standard that over the coming weeks some sites in Worcestershire would be operating ‘slightly differently’ and appointments would be rearranged in line with national vaccine supply.

A CCG spokeswoman said: “Despite this, we will continue to offer the first dose of the vaccine to those who are eligible as well as administering second doses.

“We will continue to invite all those who are currently eligible forward for a vaccine.

“This includes over 50s, carers, frontline health and social care workers and those who are classed as clinically vulnerable.”
