WESTACRE Middle School in Droitwich held its annual Eisteddford creative arts festival this week, writes Tilly Kellaway.
The event, giving children the opportunity to showcase their talent and skills in a range of different unique categories.
Headteacher, Donna Evans said: “At this time of year, as school reports go out and we celebrate the academic successes of our children, the festival gives all the pupils the opportunity to express their creative side in a fun packed festival that all children take part in.”
This years theme was ‘Blast from the past’, with children being challenged to be creative around their favourite era of history.
Organisers of the festival, Lynsey Pledger and Tom street said: “Eisteddfod is such a wonderful opportunity for the children to really embrace their creative side.
“We learn so much about their talents during the festival, whether it be beautiful dancing, daring gymnastics or amazing yo-yo tricks”
On the day of the live event, there were a variety of singers, dancers, musicians, poets and more- with the children at Westacre being very positive when they were asked about the festival.
Jessie in Y7 loves the festival as she gets to see everyone’s talents, her favourite part this year being performing in the dance duet for the parents showcase.
Harry in Y6 also enjoyed the festival as it gave him an opportunity to do things he normally doesn’t, and Rosie from Y5 took great delight in performing in front of all her friends and the school.
Mrs Evans spoke about the schools sense of pride in the tradition they had established over many years.
She said: “It is an absolute delight to see the enthusiasm and effort the children show throughout the festival.
“As a school, we want to develop and bring out the best in all children across all areas of the curriculum. We already have exciting plans for Eisteddfod 2026.”
