FIREFIGHTERS have hit out at people who deliberately set a wooden bench ablaze in Droitwich last night.
One crew from Droitwich Fire Station attended the incident in Ombersley Road at 9.32pm which, luckily, they were alerted to early.
Water was used to extinguish the blaze which has prompted a plea from the fire service.
The heatwave, along with the rising temperatures and more dry areas, is currently leading to a large increase in fires with crews on high alert.
With this in mind, the last thing firefighters need is people deliberately setting items alight.
HWFRS said: “Even a small fire has the potential to escalate beyond control in these conditions.”
