A CYCLIST has been seriously injured after a crash in Droitwich on Tuesday morning.

The collision happened at about 11.20am on the A38 Worcester Road where the cyclist. a 67-year-old woman, was in convoy with three other riders, travelling south towards Martin Hussingtree.

As they approached traffic lights a car, travelling in the same direction, moved over to give them space but as it did so it was involved in a collision involving two other cars and a lorry.

One of the vehicles spun out of control and collided with the cyclist.

An ambulance and a paramedic officer attended the scene.

The woman was treated for potentially serious head injuries at the scene before being taken to Birmingham’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital. She is currently in intensive care following surgery.

No-one else was injured.

The other vehicles involved were a Mazda MX5, a Mercedes lorry, a Hyundai 130 and a Mercedes SUV.

Police have urged anyone who witnessed the collision or saw any of the vehicles, and the manner in which they were being driven, before the crash happened, to get in touch.

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked should visit and submit it there.
