YOUNGSTERS from Dodderhill School have been getting out and about and learning about the great outdoors in their special forest area.
Those in the kindergarten and reception classes enjoy a woodland experience which helps them appreciate nature and learn to respect natural places.
Tracey Palmeri, head of the junior department at Dodderhill School, said: “Forest School is an inspirational programme that enables children to experience nature first hand through a series of engaging and achievable tasks, such as building a shelter, or climbing on a rope course.
“The activities are always hands-on and will often require the use of a range of tools depending on the age of the children.
“As a group becomes more comfortable with living and working in the woodland, the programme becomes more learner-led and is a journey of discovery directed by the children.”
She added the school was fortunate to have such beautiful woodland within its grounds and youngsters really loved it.
