Dragon boat success for Webbs

A TEAM of workers from Webbs Garden Centres had an oarsome time winning first place in the charity dragon boat race.

Staff from the Wychbold and West Hagley branches flew past the other contestants and held their title for the second year running at Pershore Phoenix Dragon Boat race and fun day on the River Avon.

All the money raised will go to the centre’s chosen charity of the year – Acorns Children’s Hospice

The team also took part in the national charity race at the Water Sports Centre in Nottingham on September 21.

The group was please to bring home another trophy after coming third in the grand final for their class, finishing just three seconds behind the winning team after competing on a 500m course.

Mark Goddard, the Webbs’ team leader, said: “It was a really good, fun day – everyone enjoyed themselves and it was a great team building experience.”

The team chuffed with their gold medals.
