DROITWICH’S Air Cadet Squadron were visited by town mayor Coun Shaun Best, the Mayoress and four town councillors.

The visit came after an invite from the Commanding Officer Flt Lt Paul Wilde for the VIPs to visit the headquarters of 2516 (Droitwich) Squadron of the Air Training Corps.

The event, attended by Coun Graham Beale, Coun Bob Brookes, Coun Sital Harris and Coun Tom Noyes, was held to thank the members of the authority for its grants and support over the last two years.

The cash helped the squadron buy radio and camping equipment to provide better communications, training and safety during its activities.

The evening featured a formal parade and demonstrations of the recently acquired Motorola radio handsets and camping equipment bought last year.

The councillors also spoke to the cadets and saw the flight simulator, used as part of their training in the principals of flight, in action.

After tea and coffee a final parade was held where the councillors were presented with a framed picture commemorating the 75th anniversary of the formation of the Air Training Corps.

Anyone wanting more information on the 2516 (Droitwich) Squadron should call Paul Wilde on 07912 341757.
