Droitwich artist's latest 'wonky' creation set for unveiling

DROITWICH artist Rosie Philpott, famous for her ‘wonky’ paintings, will be unveiling her latest creation at this weekend’s St Richard’s Canal Festival.

Rosie first burst onto the local art scene in 2012 with her ‘Wonky Droitwich’ painting, depicting Droitwich Spa’s High Street in a quirky style.

Since then, Rosie has made a career of selling her wonky paintings at local festivals and venues.

At her first festival of the year, Rosie is excited to release a new painting entitled ‘Flying Visit’’. The piece depicts the Railway Inn pub, the Pamela May Community Canal Boat and the Flying Scotsman.

Rosie said: “I had great fun putting together this composition, depicting a sunny afternoon with a surprise visitor.

“I know the Pamela May (which I have painted many times before) is moored here, as well as a brilliant view of the railway in the distance so there was a lot of interest to include.

“The famous ‘boy on the bike’ remains, although he seems to have missed the Flying Scotsman hurtling past.”

Rosie has been so busy with commissions that it has been a couple of years since she has released a new painting.

The festival in Vines Park presents a rare opportunity to see an original Rosie Philpott on display.

The original, A2 in size and framed in a solid oak frame, is for sale, along with limited-edition giclee prints in sizes A3 an A2.

The piece, along with others from her collection, will be available to view on Rosie’s stall from tomorrow (Saturday) to Monday (May 5).
