Droitwich Arts Network to host new arts festival in September

Droitwich Editorial 2nd Aug, 2023   0

AN ARTS and community centre in Droitwich is hosting its latest arts festival in its newly opened hub next month.

Droitwich Arts Network (DAN) will host the mini ArtsFest at their centre in St Andrews Square, Droitwich on September 16 from 10am to 3.30pm.

The town crier will be announcing and promoting activities throughout the day with members of the arts network and the I-Sing Choir providing musical entertainment for the day.

Artists will be sharing their work through exhibits in the hub and outside while a ‘dabble day’ hopes to encourage attendees to try their hand at various types of artistry and creativity including knitting, crocheting, clay modeling, painting, origami, pastels, poetry, music and more.

Talented weavers and crocheters will be showcasing their skills for onlookers.

DAN are calling for volunteers with artistry skills to volunteer as tutors for the ‘dabble day’ and lend a hand at helping others learn new creative skills.

A school arts competition was also launched on August 1 for children and young adults up to the age of 18 with the winners receiving prizes at the mini ArtsFest on September 16.

The competition is separated into three groups, up to 5 years, 6 to 11 years and 12 to 18 years. Entries should be taken to the Hub on or before August 11 with the entrants age, name and contact details on the back of the work.

A poetry competition will also be launching in September to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the printing of William Shakespeare’s first Folio by Droitwich born Heminges. Further details will follow in Septembers DAN newsletter.
