A NEW chairman is at the helm of Droitwich Arts Network as its long-standing former stalwart leader steps down from the role after seven years.
Former chairman, Helen Karakashain, joined in 2018 and recently stepped down at the network’s annual general meeting in January at the Old Cock in Droitwich.
Helen praised all of her supporters over the years including her secretary, committee members, volunteers and loyal members of the arts network, before handing over the reigns to new chairman, Rhys Jones.
Following Helen’s stepping down, she was showered with gifts including a unique art piece, a ‘stunning’ flower bouquet, and a hand-written scroll with ‘skilled’ calligraphy containing kind words from the replacing chairman.
The former chairman said: “I have been overwhelmed by my wonderful gifts.
“I wish every success to our new chairman Rhys and his committee.
“Rhys has great knowledge of a wide variety of the arts due to his very successful organisation of DAN’s ArtsFests and I am sure, with his skills and the combined abilities of his committee members, there are innovative and exciting times ahead for the network.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as chair. Warmest good wishes to everyone at Droitwich Arts Network for a happy, healthy and successful future.”
Although Helen is stepping down as chair, she will remain a member of the network and ensures she will not become a stranger.
New chairman, Rhys Jones, added: “Helen, thank you for your leadership over the past seven years. Your warmth, diplomacy, energy and enthusiasm has brought the best out of all of us.”
Droitwich Arts Network is based at The Hub in St Andrews Square and provides a communal space for artists to create, exhibit and promote their work. The Hub also plays host to workshops, community events and much more.
