Droitwich ArtsFest officially opens today - check out our guide to the first week

THERE are exciting events in store at this year’s Droitwich ArtsFest which begins today (June 30).

On the opening day there will be the official launch at midday in Droitwich Town Centre featuring Droitwich Town Crier Edgar Harwood and Mid Worcestershier MP Nigel Huddleston.

There will also be fanfares from a brass quartet and announcements from the deputy mayor William Moy.

The art exhibition in the Library gallery also begins today and runs until July 27.




‘Artists in Residence’ will be in Droitwich Library everyday from June 30 to July 27.

From July 2 to July 4, there will be exhibitions from members of Droitwich Arts Network and International MailArt.


They will be available to view during the library’s opening times.

Other events in St Andrews Square tomorrow will include belly dancing at 12.30pm, Salsa at 1.15pm and Zumba at 2.30pm.

There will also be the Family Fun Day and Street Party at the Westcroft Arms, Ombersley Street West, from 1pm to 11pm.

It has a variety of activities for all ages. Admission is £1, with all proceeds going to Macmillan and Acorns Children’s Hospital.

In the evening, the Rock Choir will perform two concerts at Droitwich Spa High School – tomorrow evening and Sunday evening at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 (£10 concessions).

On Wednesday, July 4, Keith Slater’s 60s Celebration will be held from 7.30pm to 9.30pm at St Andrews Town Hotel.

Droitwich Folk Club will be playing a range of music from 7.30pm on Thursday, July 5, at The Old Cock Inn.

Next Saturday, July 7, the public are invited to create a ‘People’s Gallery’ during the day near the High Street, while in the evening there will be a free concert played by two bands in St Andrews Square.

A cash bar will also be available and the gates open at 6.30pm.
