AN EXHIBITION showcasing what it was like to live in Droitwich Spa during the Second World War will be on display in May to mark VE Day 80.
The Heritage and Information Centre’s Droitwich at War exhibition showcases local wartime memories and gives an insight into how Droitwich Spa was affected during World War II.
It explores the lives of ordinary people living in Droitwich Spa and puts a lens on the well-known Droitwich Family, ‘the Machins’- former owners of H.R. Machin Ironmongers in the High Street.
The exhibition, from May 1 to May 15, has been a collaborative effort between Droitwich Spa Heritage Staff and members of the local community.
Heritage Manager Rebecca Butler said: “It’s been fascinating creating this exhibition.
“We hope our visitors enjoy discovering more about how World War II affected the lives of ordinary families.
“Ultimately, we’re hoping Droitwich’s community of today connect with the town’s shared and important history.”
The exhibition will be viewable from 10am to 4pm from Monday to Friday and from 10am to 1.30pm on Saturdays. There will be extended opening hours on VE Day (May 8 from 10am to 7pm).
