A DROITWICH author who was struck by two rare medical conditions simultaneously has released her latest novel ‘My Husband’s House’.
Sheryl Browne was working on one of her previous books ‘The Marriage Trap’ when she contracted angle closure which took away some of her central vision.
She underwent three lots of surgery while writing various other books and credits the NHS with saving her.
And, while Sheryl can still see and is well enough to write, occasionally while staring at the screen her focus ‘sticks’ like a faulty camera lens and her vision fails.
She said: ‘I’m assured it can be managed, so I try not to panic, but it serves to remind me of those people in all walks of life who have to adapt because of some disability which often isn’t seen behind the profile.
“It also reminds me that we should be kind to people however we interact with them, because we never really know what’s going on ‘behind the scenes’.”
My Husband’s House. released on Monday, is billed as ‘a gripping and absolutely addictive psychological thriller with a heart-pounding twist’.
It centres on a couple moving into a new home which – although not perfect and with peeling wallpaper and an overgrown garden – is ‘the fresh start they need’.
They hope the move will bring them back together but then a stranger turns up at the door and the wife questions just how well she knows her husband.
Sheryl is a best-selling psychological thriller author, with 22 top 100 chart rankings across her books with one reaching number six in the US.
