Droitwich bereavement cafe continues to serve community thanks to Platform Housing funding boost

A Droitwich based bereavement cafe will continue providing a safe space to the local community thanks to a much needed funding boost.

The St Vincent de Paul Society bereavement cafe, run by volunteers, and based at Rotary House, Droitwich has received a £1,313 donation from Platform Housing Group’s Community Chest Fund.

The free to attend cafe, hosted on the second Tuesday of every month from 10am to 12 noon, will continue to support those suffering from the loss of a friend or family member by offering a safe place for a chat, refreshment and bereavement courses.

All volunteers at the support centre are trained in safeguarding and bereavement support.

The St Vincent de Paul Society said: “As this service is for the whole community it is great to have had support from the community, especially from organisations like Platform. Over the first two meetings we have already been able to help 27 visitors.”

Marion Duffy, Platform Housing Group’s chief operations officer said, “It’s wonderful we’ve been able to provide funding to such a beneficial initiative for the community.”

Platform Housing’s Community Chest Fund is available to local charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations.
