A RASHWOOD Care Home Chef came out on top at the regional Great British Care Awards.

Andrew Hughes won the Care Home Chef accolade, celebrating his 13 years at Rashwood and his ‘outstanding excellence’ in his field of work.

He said: “I really enjoy my job and have the opportunity to be a part of the day-to-day running of the home, meeting residents and not just working in the kitchen.

“This is very rewarding, and talking to our residents means I can ensure the food I create is what they really enjoy.”

At the home, Andrew is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting food and hospitality, such as resident and visitor special functions, private parties and events at the home.

Helen Grice, Rashwood Care Home’s general manager, said: “Andy has worked here at Rashwood for a long time.

“He has always produced food to a very high standard, and the residents always speak highly of his meals.

“Also his cakes are amazing and a highlight of the resident’s afternoon teas.”

Andrew’s colleague Megan Evans was also highly commended in the Ancillary Worker category.

Andrew will now go through to the national finals held in March 2023.
