DROITWICH’S Woodland View Care Home is soon to celebrate its second anniversary.
A special party will take place at the home from 11am tomorrow (Saturday, October 21).
A variety of activities will take place including vintage cars, live music, a Punch and Judy show, traditional games, stalls from local businesses and lots of food and refreshments.
As well as looking after the residents, since opening in Droitwich, staff at Woodland View have strived to make their lives as fun and interesting as possible.
Entertainers visit the home and residents go on a trips into town and places further afield, including visits to Pershore Abbey and the needle factory.
One of the recent activities the home has started offering is weekly listens to the Redditch and Bromsgrove Talking Newspapers (RBTN).
Carla Sidaway, Woodland View’s front of house manager, said: “Residents are interested in the local news but it is hard for some of them as their eyesight is not so good anymore and they would struggle to read the newspaper.
“The Talking Newspaper is perfect for them – it’s a great way for them to keep up-to-date with things going on in the local area.”
As well as news stories, other features include an Advice Centre, What’s On in the area, historic and naturalist articles, plus a weekly quiz.
People can visit bwbf.org.uk to access the RBTN online service.
Special players can also be provided free to care homes – care home staff interested should email Hedley at [email protected] or Margaret Mountford at [email protected] and then, once contact has been made, RBTN will arrange for them to be delivered.
