DROITWICH charity, the Rees Foundation have announced a new fundraising partnership with a local property developer.

Barberry Group, based in Stourbridge have chosen to partner with the Rees Foundation as they are keen to support the charity in its efforts to provide opportunities and support for adults leaving the care system.

The property developer emphasised its hopes of supporting adults who have experienced childhood trauma.

Barberry Group have planned a year of fundraising events to mark their 40th anniversary and are kicking off their efforts with a charity walk at Hagley Park in April.

Jan Rees OBE, founder of the Rees Foundation said: “We are very grateful for the support from Barberry Group and welcome further fundraising partners!”

“It’s imperative that support is available for care leavers, care shouldn’t stop at 18 or 21 or 25… we have to be there for them.

“We’re supporting hundreds of care leavers by offering emotional support, helping them find work and by offering financial assistance in crisis situations, such as for groceries and utilities during these difficult times.”

Jon Bellfield, executive chairman at Barberry said: “I was really impressed by the team at the Rees Foundation and the work they do to assist and improve the lives of those who have experienced trauma, and a lack of parental support. Barberry are very much looking forward to working with the charity throughout this year.”
