THE Droitwich Spa Civic Society committee were ‘excited’ after a productive information evening on Tuesday, September 6, with hopes that new members will sign up to save the group.
The Society would have to close if it doesn’t find new committee members, with the meeting an attempt to answer any questions prospective new members may have.
Coun Richard Morris said the meeting was ‘very successful’ with over 20 in attendance.
The existing chairman gave an informative presentation before taking a question and answer session and handing out various other documents.
Questions ranged from expected time commitment to the types of issues members will get involved in and support.
Coun Richard Morris said: “The existing committee were excited by the possibilities new members could bring to the society and how they could help Droitwich.
“There was a request for anyone still interested to sign up to be members and indicate if they would be interested in joining the committee.
“I thanked the existing committee, and predecessors, for the terrific support they have given to the society and Droitwich over the years and we hope that individuals would sign up to join to save the society and help it bring value to Droitwich in future years.”
The Droitwich Spa Civic Society was founded in 1974 and provides a meeting place for those interested in the enhancement and preservation of the town.
It roles include scrutinising planning applications to consider a new developments potential before discussing with developers and giving advice to the authorities.
Members can join by annual subscription and are then able to attend regular meetings with guest speakers.
Civic Society members also get to join visits to local places of interest over the summer.
