RESIDENTS wanting to raise any concerns about their local area can speak to their ward councillors between 10am and 1pm at Droitwich Library on Saturday (November 14).
A ‘one stop shop’ when all of the Droitwich councillors will be under one roof has been organised by Wychavon District Council as part of its ‘Meet Your Council’ programme.
The councillors taking part include Roy Murphy (Droitwich Spa central), Karen Tomalin and Bob Brookes (Droitwich Spa east), Maureen Lawley and Richard Morris (Droitwich Spa south east), Graham Beale and Tom Noyes (Droitwich Spa south west), and Jan Bolton and Catherine Powell (Droitwich Spa west).
The event was the brainchild of former mayor Coun Bob Brookes.
He said: “It’s vital that people let us know what we’re doing well and what we could do better – that way we can always make sure we’re delivering the services they want and supporting them in the right way.
“Every district councillor is committed to providing strong communities, a strong environment and a strong economy, so come along on Saturday and let us know how we’re doing.”
Tracy Perkins, Wychavon’s localism and communities officer, said it was the first time an event like this had been held, where every single councillor for one of Wychavon’s towns had been present.
“This is a great opportunity for people to come and chat to their councillor and our officers – without the need to make an appointment – and raise any issues or concerns they may have about the services we provide.”
As a direct result of previous events and some of the issues raised by residents and businesses, people have seen problems with litter and dog mess, overgrown hedges and even damaged goalposts all sorted and and issues with pavements, potholes and street lighting have all been reported to the Worcestershire County Council Highways Team for them to address.
Businesses have also been given advice on business rates and broadband, articles have been written for a number of the businesses to promote them in the local press.
