A DROITWICH couple were among seven brave fund-raisers who took a leap of faith when they plunged 10,000ft from a plane to raise money for St Richard’s Hospice.

The skydive, at Hinton-in-the-Hedges Airfield, Brackley, raised more than £6,500 to help fund round-the-clock care for those with life-threatening illnesses.

Harnessed to a professional instructor, the super seven swooped down at 120mph for an adrenalin-fuelled experience, landing safely to cheering friends and family.

Siblings Dominique and Katy Thompson embraced the challenge in memory of their father, Terry who was cared for by St Richard’s Hospice before his death in 2013.

Dominique Thompson said: “We had a few months to get our heads around the incredible shock our dad was dying but it didn’t make it any easier when we did lose him.

“What did make it easier for us, and most importantly for dad, was St Richard’s Hospice.

“I was very nervous before the skydive but facing my fears was my way of saying thank you and I am so glad I did it.”

Other members included Emma Malcolm (for nan Marion), Derek Russell (for mum Christine) and Pippa Vicary (for dad Mike Jones).

Dates for next year’s group skydive will be released soon.
