DROITWICH CVS celebrated Community Transport Week 2025 with a visit from Coun Dan Birch who dropped in to show his support, writes James Reid.
The councillor praised the CVS’ outstanding work in the Droitwich community during his visit which coincided with Community Minibus Week – that ran from October 13 to 17.
This year’s theme was ‘More Than a Minibus’, highlighting the profound impact of the service on local lives.
Coun Birch met with staff and volunteers to hear how their services transcended transportation – helping others to combat isolation whilst maintaining independence and feeling empowered.
Droitwich CVS is a local organisation, run by only a few people which provides vital services, including community transport for those across the town.
The organisation focuses its support on vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and disabled, enabling them to access to healthcare, education and employment.

Coun Birch said “It was lovely to meet and discuss the invaluable work they do day in and day out.
“Their services go far beyond simply driving a vehicle – they provide people with the opportunity to live independently, engage in their communities, and access essential services.”
He described the charity as ‘an essential pillar of the local community’ and added he was proud to stand behind the Droitwich CVS team and champion the support it needed to continue its vital work for many years to come.
Coun Birch expressed his pride in advocating for the continued support of the team to ensure their work can continue.
Tonia Enderbury, CEO of Droitwich CVS said everyone was thrilled to welcome Coun Birch.
And she added: “It was an excellent opportunity to showcase how much more we are than just a Community Transport service.
“We are part of the fabric of this community, helping individuals stay connected, independent, and part of society.”
She said, as the community transport service was very much in demand, it was always in need of volunteer drivers.
She urged anyone who could help by becoming a volunteer driver and spare a couple of hours each week to visit: droitwichcvs.org.uk/volunteer-opportunities for more information and to register their interest.
