Droitwich cyclists can protect their bikes at free marking event

Droitwich Editorial 11th Oct, 2020   0

CYCLISTS can protect their bikes at free marking events in Droitwich.

The sessions, organised by Wychavon District Council, take place on October 29 – from 6am to 9am at Droitwich Spa Railway Station and between 10am and 1pm in St Andrews Square (outside the public toilets)

Sessions see cycles being given a unique identifiable number to the frame of the bike which is then registered with the National Bike Register Database.

This reduces the risk of a bike being stolen and if stolen, it makes it easier for it to be reported and hopefully found again.

The events will follow social distancing guidelines at all times. Slots of 15 minutes will be available and booking is essential.

Coun Rob Adams, Wychavon’s Portfolio Holder for Community Engagement, Culture and Sport, said: “By marking your bike, this provides peace of mind that your bike is safe from thieves.

“We want to reassure people that the sessions will follow social distancing measures at all times.”

To book a slot, please call Kamil Ambroziak on 01684 862420 or email [email protected]

If the day is fully booked the council will try to arrange an alternative time.
