Droitwich drivers reassured they can use cash for town car parks

Droitwich Editorial 15th Jun, 2023   0

WYCHAVON District Council has moved to reassure drivers in Droitwich they will still be able to use cash in the town centre car parks.

The Standard was contacted by concerned motorists who were aware that the authority was currently replacing its car park machines and were worried that cashless only ones would be installed.

Another concern expressed was that there would be a 32p ‘convenience charge’ on the RingGo parking app – another way for motorists to pay.

Christine Baxter, Parking Services Manager for Wychavon District Council, said: “We have no plans to go cashless in our car parks. In all of our car parks customers can pay by coin or card and this will remain the case as we continue to upgrade our car parking payment machines.

“In some of our car parks there may be one machine that is card only but there will be another machine within the same car park that takes coins.”

With regard to the RingGo parking app, she added: “The RingGo service is available in all of our car parks for those who wish to pay in a fast and convenient way by phone or using the app.

“There is a small additional charge for this, and this is explained clearly on the RingGo website, app, our website and on car parking signage.

“If any customer doesn’t want to pay these fees, then they can pay by coin or card.”
