Droitwich exhibition makes a splash

THE DROITWICH Sea Bathing Lido Exhibition is set to make a splash as it continues its journey around Wychavon.

Residents have two months to get down to Droitwich Library and see how the free exhibition captures the history of the town’s famous baths.

The display has been created by Droitwich Air Cadets and project manager Lisa Kimberley who worked together in 2014 to interview people about their memories of the Lido and research its history in The Hive’s archives, in Worcester.

The exhibition has a number of themes running through it, including the impact of the weather, the Aquabats – who were acrobatic and burlesque diving experts from the 1940s, the formation of the swimming club, school lessons and much more.

Jenny Davis, Wychavon District Council’s arts development officer, said she was delighted the exhibition was being relaunched.

“It was so well received throughout the last summer season at the Lido that it’s brilliant to be able to bring these memories to non-swimmers as well.” she added.
