A DROITWICH fitness instructor who was due to undertake the London Marathon before it was postponed because of Coronavirus covered the same distance at home and around her garden over the weekend.

Kelly Tidbury was due to run for Children with Cancer UK and is still planning to take on the race when it it is held in October.

But she could not pass up the chance to give a marathon a go on the weekend it was due to take place, especially as so many people had already supported her.

She set herself a target of £2,500 and she is now up to £3,122 with more to be added.

She said: “This run was to achieve my goal, to thank everyone who has supported me over the past seven months and for anyone who needs inspiration to follow their dreams and never give up!

“Its not always easy but the tough times make you stronger.

“I started on Saturday morning feeling overwhelmed and emotional that I had learnt how determined and stubborn I actually am.”

She said her preparation levels had to be lowered because of the lockdown but she had trained just as hard – just not on the roads.

She managed her home and garden marathon in six hours, 44 minutes and nine seconds.

She added: “It was better than I thought it would be but I definitely think the real thing will be easier with the atmosphere from the crowd.”
