WITH the Droitwich Spa Food and Drink Festival just a fortnight away, the organisers want residents to get involved and put their influence on the extravaganza.
People are being urged to nominate the pies they think are the best in the town – whether they are from a local shop or pub, they want to know what they are and what makes them so special.
The pie will be judged on June 15 with the winner of the contest, sponsored by Ormerod Rutter, will scoop a trophy.
As well as that, the hunt is on to find Droitwich’s best junior baker – there are two categories for youngsters to enter – one for five to nine-year-olds and the other for those aged ten to 15.
Entrants need to bake a cake – whether traditional or their own creation – and bring it to the festival on June 18.
The winners of that competition, sponsored by Andrew Grant estate agents, will receive their trophy from 2015 Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain who will be officially opening the event and also doing a cookery masterclass.
And finally, the search is also on for the Best Dad in Droitwich so they can be rewarded on Father’s Day, which falls on the Sunday (June 19).
The best dad will get a prize round of golf with their friends, thanks to Gaudet Luce, and a ‘dad’s hamper’ from Waitrose.
Entry forms and all the details for all the competitions are available on the www.droitwichspafestival.co.uk website.
The Droitwich Spa Food and Drink Festival takes place on June 18 and 19 in the town centre and in Vines Park.
There are more than 130 exhibitiors showcasing the best food and drink in the Midlands.
