THE SPA’s foodbank and Salvation Army branch both received £170 as a Christmas gift from Droitwich United Charities (DUC).

The organisation is an amalgamation of a number of trusts and is managed by a group of trustees.

DUC chairman Coun Richard Morris said: “We aim to provide small grants to individuals and organisations within the boundaries of Droitwich Spa, to support those who struggle to exist in everyday life.”

He added the venture was a great way to support Droitwich people.

In the past the Droitwich United Charities has donated to care homes, flooding victims and paid for items, such as school uniforms and disabled equipment.

“The Foodbank and Salvation Army do a massive amount of good in Droitwich across all ages but especially supporting those in need,” added Coun Morris.
