KIND-HEARTED Droitwich youngster Holly Clarke has received the Young Volunteer accolade at the Wychavon Community Recognition Awards for her tireless work helping the homeless.

The 13-year-old received several nominations after holding car boot sales to raise cash and donating tins of food, hampers and bags of toiletries to Worcester’s Maggs Day Centre.

Holly, who attends Westacre Middle School, also bought a tent and sleeping bag for a homeless person.

Her mum Stacey Clarke said she was very proud of Holly, who was taken aback after winning the award.

“She loves getting involved and helping people, it is something she has a real passion for.”

Holly began helping the homeless as part of her black belt training at Verve Kickboxing last year when she was asked to do something for the community.

She has continued her efforts and received a Queen Award from Maggs, earning thanks and praise from the Lord Lieutenant.

Holly said she wanted to thank everyone who had helped and supported her.

“I have enjoyed helping everyone who needs it and I will definitely carry on in the future.”
