A DROITWICH ice cream producer is hoping to scoop two prestigious accolades after being shortlisted in the Visit Worcestershire Awards for Excellence.

Churchfields Farm, based in Salwarpe, is through to the last few in the Taste category after judges were wowed by a selection of their ice cream flavours, including Worcestershire Plum, Blackberry and Apple Crumble and Churchfields’ Classic Vanilla.

As well as the tasting, the judges also conducted a phone interview with Churchfields Farm director Gillian Kerton.

The winner in each of eight Visit Worcestershire award categories will be announced on Thursday (October 15) during the Annual Tourism Conference at Droitwich’s St Andrews House Hotel.

As well as that, Churchfields Farm has also been selected as a finalist in the Midlands Family Business of the Year awards – one of six regional businesses shortlisted for the Best Small Family Business category.

Gillian and her father, Michael Davies, faced a judging panel in Nottingham on September 28, in the final stage of the winner selection process.

On that occasion, Churchfields delivered a 20-minute presentation followed by questions from the judges.

The winner of that award will be announced at a black tie celebratory dinner at Leicester’s Athena on November 12.

Gillian said: “It’s great to be shortlisted for one award but to be shortlisted for two is fantastic.

“Everyone at the farm is very excited – it’s a great boost for staff morale.”
