Droitwich illustrator and Pershore author team up to tell 'Dinosaur In My Backyard' tale

A WORCESTERSHIRE author and illustrator have joined forces to release a children’s book they hope will be a ‘roaring’ success.

Catherine Reeves from Pershore and Emily Jeffrey from Droitwich have created There’s A Dinosaur In My Backyard.

Billed as ‘funky and fantastic’, the book delves into the imagination of every dinosaur-loving child whose dreams come true when they find a dinosaur in their very own backyard.

It is written in catchy rhyming verse, with a colourful fun-loving dinosaur in the starring role.

The pair have had some great feedback from parents who have said their children have been engaged, entertained and left giggling at the relatable plot twist at the end.

Emily, 21, who has recently graduated in illustration from Birmingham City University, said: “I’m very honoured to be able to illustrate such a wonderful story as my first children’s book.

“I had a wonderful time illustrating everything and I’m very happy to see all the love it has been given so far.”

Catherine added: “I’m so excited to finally hold my book in my hands and I am so pleased with how beautiful it has turned out.

“Hearing such great reviews and my little boy ask for it night after night at bedtime makes me super proud.”

The book has already sold over 100 copies in its first week and is now available from all major online book retailers.

To mark it’s release Catherine will be doing a live reading on Thursday, June 24, at 4.30pm on The Children’s Reading Revolution Facebook page.
