THE landlord of a popular pub in Droitwich treated his regulars to a tour of Sadler’s Brewhouse and Bar last Saturday.

In the early hours of March 30, Gardeners Arms landlord Simon Berry along with his group of ale-lovers, hopped on a coach outside the Vines Lane pub and began making their way to the brewery in Lye.

“We do this sort of thing quite often,” said Simon, “It’s a lot of fun travelling around and checking out different breweries.

“I had never been to Sadler’s Brewhouse before so it was really fascinating to see how it all works.”

The group enjoyed a selection of signature craft beers including a Peaky Blinders-themed pale ale and a ‘Mud City Stout’.

They listened closely as tour-guide Simon Pegg explained how the beer is made, how it’s distributed throughout the Midlands and all about the brewery’s rich background and historic reopening in 2004.

Members of the tour also got a taste for how the process works after eating various shades of malt, all of which were toasted to different levels.

Tour member Jake Bate said: “I really enjoyed myself and I especially liked the Hop Bomb – a nice ale with a slightly citrusy taste.

“By the third pint I knew it was definitely my favourite!”
