AN APPEAL has been launched by the landlords of the Old Cock Inn to raise between £8,000 and £10,000 to ensure this year’s Friar Fest festival of culture and music is the biggest and best one yet.
Speaking to The Standard Stuart Wilcox, who runs the pub with Graham Leonard, said although they already had a few sponsors on the board, more were needed to ensure this year’s event – the fourth one to take place – would be as good as it possibly could be.
Among already supporting the event are Baylis Vauxhall, Morrisons, Wychavon District Council and Waitrose through the green coin scheme.
The pair say there will be a few surprises at the event, which runs from 11.30am to midnight on June 4, and they have a big name in the pipeline to headline the festival.
Stuart and Graham are remaining tight-lipped until the contract has been finalised but they say it will be guaranteed to wow the town, put Droitwich on the map and pull in the crowds from across the region and maybe even further.
Those who donate will be mentioned in the Friar Fest publicity and there is also a crowdfunding page set up so residents can donate.
