Droitwich Lions Club gets new president as the worldwide group celebrates its centenary

Droitwich Editorial 10th Sep, 2017   0

DROITWICH Lions has a new president after Carole Moseley took the chain of office from Grahame Howard.

The change-over comes amidst Lions Club International’s centenary celebration. The worldwide organisation was founded on June 7 1917, by Melvin Jones in Chicago.

The Lions in Droitwich is a younger branch and has been running for 32 years.

The town’s club was formed in 1985 by Alec Little.

He lived in Droitwich but was part of the Bromsgrove Lions Club, which became the mother club of Droitwich.

The Droitwich club has an important role in the community and in the centenary celebrations.

The year long commemorations began on July 2 with a social afternoon to celebrate the inauguration of Carole as the new president.

And the Droitwich Lions is also hoping to recruit some more new members to join its ranks.

Carole is also keen to see more women joining up.
