Droitwich man jailed for sexual offences against children

Droitwich Editorial 25th Aug, 2017   0

A DROITWICH man has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to child sex offences.

David Jackson, aged 48, of Blackfriars Avenue was convicted of four counts of attempting to arrange or facilitate the commission of a child sex offence and one count of attempting to incite a child to engage in sexual activity.

He also admitted one count of making indecent photographs of children and one count of distributing an indecent photograph of a child.

Jackson has also been given a Sexual Harm Prevention Order until further notice and will be placed on the sex offender register for the rest of his life.

Jackson was arrested on June 8 by officers from the Operation Safenet team and specialist officers who investigate those committing online child sexual exploitation within West Mercia policing areas.

Det Insp Gavin Kinrade said: “I hope that this sentence gives a clear warning to other offenders that we are absolutely committed to protecting children from sexual abuse and online child sexual exploitation and offenders will be brought to justice.

“We understand cases such as this may cause our local community concern, particularly parents.

“We would like to offer reassurance that we are committed to doing everything within our power to protect children and vulnerable people.”

He urged anyone who has any concerns about a child being a victim of online child sexual exploitation or abuse to call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“Specialist officers, working together in partnership with support agencies across our region are here to investigate and to bring perpetrators of these horrific crimes before the courts,” he added.

Following the case, the police are also raising awareness of The Lucy Faithfull Foundation which is a registered child protection charity dedicated to reducing the risk of children being sexually abused.

It works with entire families affected by sexual abuse, including adult male and female sexual abusers, young people with inappropriate sexual behaviours, victims of abuse and other family members.
