DROITWICH man Patrick Healy is celebrating after winning the British Melodeon title for the fifth time in a row.

Irish-born Patrick held onto the 13D Melodeon (018) title and the Michael O’Leary Memorial Trophy.

He also came second in the 9D mouth organ (018) section at the British Championships, which were held in Stirling, Scotland, on June 24.

The results mean Patrick will have qualified for the All Ireland competition on two instruments in August.

There he will compete against the rest of the World in the final.

It is hosted by Comhaltas Ceoltoiri Eireann, the largest worldwide organisation devoted to the promotion and preservation of Irish traditional music, song, dance and language.

Patrick will play a minimum of four tunes from categories including a reel, jig, march, slide, slow-air or barn dance.

Patrick has won more than 20 medals and trophies over the years, including 18 gold, two sliver and two bronze.
