THE DROITWICH MP has set out his stall ahead of the European Referendum.
Alongside MPs Sajid Javid (Bromsgrove) and Robin Walker (Worcester), Nigel Huddleston said he will be voting for the UK to stay in the EU, but for different reasons.
Following ‘much deliberation’, the Mid-Worcesteshire representative says he will also be voting for the UK to remain in the EU.
He told the Standard: “I would not vote to remain if the Prime Minister had not secured an exemption on ‘ever closer union’ as while I welcome the economic and trading advantages of being in Europe I have never supported some sort of ‘United States of Europe’.
Mr Huddleston said while he was open to the idea of leaving, he was not convinced it would provide secure access to European markets.
He added: “Better to be in a reformed EU, with a special status and continue to negotiate and exert power from within.”
