THE NEW home manager at Dorset House Nursing Home in Droitwich, Carol Sabell, has been given a warm welcome.
Residents, relatives, local businesses and members of the community got to hear all about Carol’s vision and the start of an exciting new chapter at a special ‘Meet the Manager’ event.
Carol, a qualified registered home manager, has more than 30 years’ experience in the care sector and has successfully led nursing and residential dementia homes, including through the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Also being a registered counsellor who has supported cancer patients, survivors and bereaved families has shaped the compassionate leadership she brings to Dorset House.
The event gave residents, families and local professionals the opportunity to meet Carol, ask questions and hear about her plans for Dorset House’s future.
As part of the transition, long-serving home manager Karen Johnson introduced Carol to everyone, reflecting Dorset House’s commitment to ensuring a smooth handover and providing reassurance and continuity of care for residents and their families.
Karen said of Carol: “She has such a warm and caring approach and I know she’ll be a wonderful support to our residents, families and team.
“I’m confident she’ll continue the fantastic care Dorset House is known for and I wish her every happiness and success in her new role.”
Guests enjoyed homemade cakes, tea and coffee prepared by the home’s catering team while spending time getting to know Carol in an informal setting.
Representatives from a number of organisations attended, including local businesses the Neighbourhood Team, GP services and Parkinson Wright Solicitors.
Community singing group The Joy of Others also performed for guests, creating a lively and welcoming atmosphere.
One resident said: “Carol is ever so nice, I feel like we’re going to be in safe hands.”
Carol added: “It was wonderful to meet so many residents, relatives, professionals and members of our local community.
“Dorset House has such a welcoming atmosphere, and I’d like to thank everyone who came along and made me feel so welcome.
“I’m looking forward to getting to know even more people and continuing to strengthen the fantastic community connections that already exist.”
