RESIDENTS and groups are being urged to apply for road closure notices for local Platinum Jubilee Celebrations before the deadline on Friday, April 22.

Wychavon District Council has dropped its usual charge for road closure notice applications for groups holding events during the Platinum Jubilee bank holiday weekend between June 2 and 5.

More than 30 applications have been made by groups and individuals wishing to celebrate the jubilee so far, although not every event held will be deemed as requiring a road closure.

Over £15,000 has been made available to town and parish councils across Wychavon to help support community events celebrating The Queen’s 70th year on the throne.

Wychavon District Council’s executive board member for stronger communities, culture and sport, Coun Rob Adams said: “I’m delighted so many parts of the district are already planning to come together to celebrate what will be a special moment in our country’s history. It’s not too late to do something in your area.”

Visit www.wychavon.gov.uk/jubilee for more information on planning a jubilee celebration, as well as a list of publicised events.
