THERE is just a week to go until the annual Droitwich Christmas lights switch-on which will be done by the town’s Paralympic silver medallist Rebecca Redfern.

Westacre Middle School choir will take centre stage at 3.45pm, followed by the Worcestershire Rock Choir.
The countdown will be led by Droitwich Mayor Coun Roy Murphy before the Spa’s Rio hero illuminates the town with a new display for St Andrew’s Shopping Centre, the icicle lights on St Richard’s House and more.
The switch-on will also trigger the start of the annual St Andrew’s Christmas Tree Festival, there will be funfair rides in Victoria Square and the Santa’s grotto, operated by Droitwich Lions, from 10am in St Richard’s House.
And car parking in all the pay and display car parks will be free from 2pm and there will be the Worcestershire Farmers’ Market in Victoria Square, along with other seasonal stalls.
There will be a festive family concert in St Andrew’s Church from 5.15pm, featuring the community choir, and ‘cards for good causes’ will be on sale in the Tourist Information Centre.
The Salvation Army Brass Band will also be performing in the town centre, including in St Andrews Shopping Centre.
