TWO parks in Droitwich are celebrating 15 years of Green Flag status, marking years of outstanding management, environmental stewardship and community engagement.
Vines Park and Droitwich Lido/St Peter’s Fields were reinstated in this year’s Green Flag Awards alongside four other Wychavon parks.
Droitwich Lido/St Peter’s Fields Vines Park has held its status for 16 years while Vines Park retains its status for a 15th consecutive year.
Also on the list is Droitwich Community Woods (six years), Abbey Park (20 years) and Workman Gardens (18 years) in Evesham, Abbey Park (17 years) in Pershore.
Each space has consistently met the highest standards in cleanliness, safety, biodiversity, and community involvement, offering residents and visitors beautiful, accessible spaces to relax, play, and connect with nature.
Abbey Park and Workman Gardens in Evesham are celebrated for their vibrant floral displays, scenic riverside walks and popular community events.
Their long-standing Green Flag status is a testament to the dedication of local teams and volunteers who maintain these spaces to the highest standards.
Vines Park, which lies between the River Salwarpe and Droitwich Canal, is a haven for wildlife and walkers, and home to a Scheduled Ancient Monument reflecting the town’s rich salt heritage.
Waterside Gardens, Abbey Park in Pershore, and Droitwich Community Woods also continue to shine as tranquil, well-maintained spaces that reflect Wychavon’s commitment to green excellence.
Councillor Beverley Hardman, Wychavon board member for environment, said: “Our parks are a vital part of what makes Wychavon such a special place to live and visit.
“These awards are a testament to the dedication of our parks teams and volunteers who work tirelessly to keep these spaces beautiful, safe, and welcoming for all.
“Our thanks go to our contractors, Krinkels, Smart Cut, Continental Landscapes and our steadfast volunteers for keeping our parks in tip-top condition and to Worcestershire Wildlife Trust which helps to manage Droitwich Community Woods.”
The award is administered by the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.
