A PLUS-size model from Droitwich says she is full of confidence as she prepares to represent the town in a beauty pageant next year.
Clarissa-Jane Naisbett, 23, said she used to feel insecure about her body-shape compared to ‘other women but now, after signing up for the Miss Mystic Beauty (MMB) pageant, all that had changed.
“I suffer from anxiety and autism which didn’t help with my self-confidence.
“I looked at the ‘perfect girls’ you see on catwalks and thought I’d never able to do something like that.
“I started to realise I could do it as well without the pressure of feeling judged.”
The Worcester-based pageant being held next October is aimed at celebrating, inspiring and empowering women from all kinds of different backgrounds.
MMB director Jasmine Pratt said: “I wanted to provide a platform to help women self-develop and become the best versions of themselves.”
Clarissa first joined as a volunteer on the day of the MMB 2017 finals.
After experiencing the pageant world first-hand she became inspired to do it herself.
She competed in the 2018 finals and finished fourth, walking away with the Miss Inspirational 2018 award after being chosen by a panel of judges.
She was also given the Miss Droitwich title for the 2019 MMB contest which will be the first time it has been held as a ‘regional’ competition.
“We are all so proud of her and how far she has come and we can’t wait to see her on the catwalk again next year,” said Jasmine.
However Miss Droitwich says she is up for the challenge and believes she can go far.
“Leading up to the event in October I will be fund-raising at various events and raising awareness for autism,” said Clarissa.
“There isn’t enough knowledge about autism or acceptance and I want that to change.”
