Droitwich Poppy Appeal launched ahead of Remembrance weekend

Droitwich Editorial 29th Oct, 2023   0

THE ANNUAL Droitwich Poppy Appeal has been launched ahead of the town’s Armistice Day and Remembrance Sunday commemorations.

On the weekend of November 11 and 12, people will come together to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the two World Wars and other conflicts.

On Saturday, November 11, the Droitwich Royal British Legion will mark Armistice Day with a service at the War Memorial in Victoria Square, Droitwich.

Residents are urged to gather from 10.40am for the service at 10.45am.

Then on Remembrance Sunday, November 12, the parade will muster at the Westcroft pub at 10.40am, travelling along Ombersley Street East and arriving at Victoria Square at 10.50am.

The service will then be held, concluding at 11.20am.

A service in St Andrew’s Church will be held from around 11.30am.

And those who want to can gather afterwards in the Droitwich Working Men’s Club.

Roads into Victoria Square will be closed from 10.30am to midday on Sunday.
