A DROITWICH primary school had two new play areas opened by the Bishop of Worcester.

Cutnall Green CofE Primary School welcomed the Right Revd Hugh Nelson to officially open new play areas for Early Years and Years one to six.

The new play areas both include wooden climbing equipment and sheltered dens for outdoor reading.

The official opening began with Kerry Postans, Director of Education at The Rivers CofE Academy Trust, welcoming Bishop Nelson and other guests.

Mrs Postans said: “Thank you to The Elmley Trust and the Cutnall Green CofE School PTA for helping to fund the project.

“I also want to thank local parish members for their support and for the “strong relationship between school and the wider community”.

“It will benefit our children for many years to come”.

Year 6 pupils read out prayers they had written, and the Bishop spoke to pupils about what God means to them and encouraged them to find joy in reading, learning and play.

He then cut a ribbon to open the new playground.

One pupil said: “I love the new play area, especially the monkey bars. It’s made us stronger.”

Assistant Headteacher Mr Pates said: “Outdoor play is an important part of school life, and this project has transformed our grounds.

The equipment has improved children’s physical development and increased their confidence when taking on new challenges.”
