BUSINESSES across Droitwich have come together to support the Velo Birmingham ride and a street party in Vines Lane which has been organised by Gardeners Arms landlord Simon Berry is aimed at making it a day to remember.
From 11am there will be live music hosted by Sally Halsall and featuring Clide Spencer, Darren Hands and Emmie Hands, violinist Delyth Parton, guitarist and singer Matt Bough, 80s duo President and the renowned Skabucks – Dave and Spoz, aka Giovanni Esposito.
All Vines Lane residents will receive two pulled pork rolls per household on the day, courtesy of the Gardeners Arms.
There will also be the Flamin’ Rooster Barbecue hosted by Deliciously Squared Catering and there will be an outside bar, along with all the usual real ales and ciders that the popular pub offers.
A stewarded crossing will be implemented near the entrance to the pub to ensure revellers’ safety and there will be a host of stalls on the street, including the Unlimited (Mobility) Company, The Missing Link bike shop and Street Prestige (4×4 bike carriers) Cars.
The street party idea has also captured the imagination of the broadcast media – it has been featured on BBC Midlands Today and BBC Hereford and Worcester will be heading down to Vines Lane on Sunday.
Mr Berry said: “I’m delighted the business community has come together to support this sporting and charitable event.
“It should be a great day for all.”
Parking is available in Waitrose Car Park where there is free Sunday parking.
