Droitwich Remembrance Parade organisers hoping for similar after record turn-out last year

THE ORGANISERS of Droitwich’s Remembrance Sunday parade and Poppy Appeal are hoping for similar responses tomorrow after last year’s eclipsed all records.

While last year saw the centenary of the end of the First World War, this year’s will commemorate the 75th anniversary of the D-Day landings which happened earlier this year.

The parade, organised by the town’s Royal British Legion, will muster at the Westcroft pub on Ombersley Street at 10.15am, ready to move off at 10.30am.

The parade will arrive at the war memorial on Victoria Square at 10.45am for the service and wreath-laying.

There will be a second service at 11.20am on Remembrance Sunday inside St Andrew’s Church.

And on Monday, November 11, a short service at the war memorial at 10.45am will commemorate Armistice Day.
